Applications for the 2021 Martin Sheridan Bursary scheme have been extended until April 30th.

The scheme is designed to financially support young sportspeople who have demonstrated outstanding ability and the potential and desire to perform at the highest level possible in their chosen sport.

A sum totalling €5,000 has been allocated from Mayo County Council to go toward the bursary scheme.

Athletes from across Mayo are eligible for the bursary, but applications for the bursary must come from a third party, such as a sporting club or organisation, on behalf of the nominee. Each third party may nominate just one male and one female nominee.

Each application will be assessed on an individual basis by the Martin Sheridan Memorial Bursary Committee.

Joe O'Neill has been giving Midwest Sport more details about the awards.
