Mayo’s Sinead Diver came third in The Hobart ‘Run the Bridge’ marathon in Tasmania yesterday.
The event is one of the region’s premier running events each year and this year almost 4,000 runners went over the iconic Tasman Bridge.
There was keen competition between some of the top Australians.
Sinéad Diver is originally from Belmullet and showed she continues to be in excellent form coming home in third place in 32:29, eight seconds behind winner Genevieve Gregson 32:21.
Ellie Pashley finished second in 32:26 – like Sinéad she’s set to be part of the Australian team for the women’s marathon in the Tokyo Olympics.
The top three women broke Lisa Weightman’s old course record of 32:41 set in 2018.
