A Mayo darts player is continuing his quest to compete with the world’s top players.
Martin Heneghan from Roundfort in south Mayo is vying to win a two-year tour card at the Professional Darts Corporation’s Qualifying School in London.
He suffered his first loss of the qualifying stages yesterday and faces Andrew Gilding of England in a best of 11 legs match today.
He’s one of over 650 players competing for one of the 29 PDC tour cards to play on the pro circuit.
The final stage got underway yesterday and will conclude on Wednesday.
As well as playing and captaining Mayo and Ireland, Martin claimed the WDF Europe Cup singles competition in Budapest in 2018.
