Club Rossie is set to raise huge funds for Roscommon GAA through its Win a Home in London draw this evening, despite a last-minute hiccup that has prevented people living in Great Britain from entering the raffle.

Following communication from the UK Gambling Commission in mid-December Club Rossie was directed to cease accepting entries from Great Britain (GB) and to exclude their residents from the draw.

It is understood that up to 2,700 entries from Great Britain had been received for the draw, and these entrants, who were informed of the development by Club Rossie on Monday will be refunded their €100 in January - that’s a €270,000 total.

However, Club Rossie still expects to deliver a profit of at least over half a million euro (€500,000) from the draw later today and it will see one lucky person win a two-bedroom apartment in London City worth €815,000.

However, the fundraising arm of Roscommon GAA added that it remained proud of its fundraising efforts during a global pandemic, and thanked everyone who has supported Roscommon GAA through the Win a Home in London fundraiser.

A contribution from the draw’s proceeds will also be made to Club Rossie’s charity partners — €35,000 to the London Irish Centre and €10,000 to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

The Win a Home in London draw will take place as planned this evening and it will be broadcast live on Facebook.
