The GAA have confirmed that all under-20 and minor inter-county competitions will be paused after tonight.
The decision has been made in light of the government's decision to move to level 5 of the Covid-19 restrictions which do not come into effect until midnight.
This evening's Bord Gáis Energy Leinster U20 hurling fixtures will proceed but the EirGrid under-20 football final between Dublin and Galway scheduled to take place on Saturday has been postponed.
The Connacht Minor Championship which was due to begin this Friday evening between Galway & Leitrim has also been called to a halt.
Connacht GAA Secretary John Prenty told Midwest Radio's Lunchtime Sport Programme that the news will come as a disappointment for everyone involved but they have to abide by the advice of the Government and NPHET.
He says the games are paused at the moment but is hopeful the competitions will get finished eventually.
Elsewhere, Down have been promoted to Division Two of the Allianz Football League.
The GAA confirmed that Longford's home match against Cork in Division Three has been cancelled after the hosts conceded the game.
