Gary Sice has come out of retirement to make a shock return to inter-county football with Galway ahead of a truncated winter championship.
Sice, now 36, has been one of the leading club players in the country and a pivotal member of the three-in-a-row All-Ireland-winning Corofin team.
He is understood to have returned to training last week, having maintained impressive form throughout the Galway club championship with a seven-point haul in a recent match against Salthill-Knocknacarra in their quarter-final.
