The Achill Half Marathon and 10K has been deferred until the 3rd of July 2021.
The event was previously deferred from its normal July live event to a date in September.
The event’s Operations team and volunteers met to discuss the latest guidance from the NPHET recently, specifically the regulations regarding outdoor events.
Following careful consideration, they reluctantly decided to cancel the live Achill Half Marathon and 10K event scheduled for 12th September 2020.
They decision was made because waiting for NPHET advice at the of August on outdoor gatherings would not provide adequate notice for registered participants.
They have thanked the 700 plus runners who decided to hold their registration last May in the hopes of an uplifting event in September.
Registered runners for the live September event will be contacted by the half marathon team shortly.
The 2020 Achill Half Marathon and 10K VIRTUAL race is going ahead as planned and preparations for the 2021 live event are underway.
Registration will open on the 31st August next and Achill looks forward to rolling out the welcome mat for 2021.
