A leading racing journalist believes the Covid-9 pandemic will be a cause for huge financial concern in the Irish horse racing industry.

The coronavirus has brought racing to a half in Ireland until at least April 19th and next month's Punchestown Festival is in major doubt.

Horse Racing Ireland are set to hold a conference call on Wednesday to discuss emergency measures and how to deal with the loss in revenue at tracks.

Racing journalist Denis Kirwan says he hopes the industry’s sponsors will get back on board with the sport after the current crisis.
