The first meeting at Ballinrobe racecourse has been cancelled and the manager at the track confirmed to Midwest Sport this morning that it's unlikely to see racing until at least June.

It follows the announcement by Government that all sporting events have been cancelled until April 19th at the earliest.

Horse racing had continued behind closed doors since March 13 but there will be no more meetings in the country scheduled until April 19 at the earliest.

The first meeting at Ballinrobe Racecourse, which was set for Friday, April 17, has been called off and racecourse manager John Flannelly says in the short term he feels it's unlikely that racing will take place in May.

The meetings lined up for May take place on May 7th, May 25th and the McHale Raceday on May 26th, with later meetings this year scheduled for June 22nd, July 20th and 21st; August 10th and 24th, and September 11th.

John Flannelly told Midwest Sport today that this decision was inevitable.
