The CEO of aid agency GOAL, Siobhan Walsh, has thanked the hundreds of people from County Mayo who took part in a GOAL Mile over the Christmas period.

Crowds turned out to walk, run or jog a mile at Belleek Woods in Ballina and Lough Lannagh on Christmas Day, and in Westport on St. Stephen’s Day. And a GOAL Mile will take place on New Year’s Day in McMahon Park in Clairemorris starting at 1 p.m on Wednesday.

Now in its 38th year, the GOAL Mile is one of Ireland’s largest and longest-running annual fundraising events.
This year over 140 GOAL Miles were organized all over Ireland, as well as a number of locations abroad.

Last year GOAL reached more than 5.5 million people in need around the world.
