Galway hurling is mourning the passing of Peter Cooney after a long battle with cancer.
The 49-year-old's older brothers, Jimmy and Joe, were All-Ireland winners with the Galway hurlers.
Peter and his brothers were one of the most powerful hurling dynasties ever to grace Galway.
During his career he won two All-Ireland club SHC medals and five Galway SHC medals with his club Sarsfields.
He lined out alongside his brothers Jimmy, Pakie, Michael, Joe and Brendan in those successes and was also the holder of an All-Ireland U21HC medal.
Peter's funeral Mass will take place in St Patrick's Church, Bullaun on Sunday morning.
