Four Mayo men, who would go on to excel in sport in their adopted countries will have their ‘untold’ stories told in an exhibition from Friday.
The North Mayo Heritage Centre is hosting an exhibition on four Mayo men who went on to achieve sporting greatness outside of Ireland.
The exhibition runs from Friday until the 3rd of November in the Heritage centre in Enniscoe, Crossmolina.
They tell the story of
Jim Donnelly: who had stints as a manager, or coach at Inter Milan and elsewhere.
Jimmy Walsh: a two time winner of the World Series with the New York Yankees.
Pat Tunney: who was among Connacht’s first ever pro rugby players.
And Jimmy Murphy: who won the American drivers’ championship twice.
This exhibition will open on Friday 20th September with a special preview event and will run until 3rd November 2019.
