Mayo manager James Horan has hinted at the return of both Diarmuid O’Connor and Matthew Ruane from injury before the end of the Super 8's.
Speaking after their round 4 qualifier win over Galway, Horan said that the two-time young footballer-of-the-year is in contention to return to play in the round-robin competition, after previously suffering a wrist injury in training.
The Mayo boss also said that Breaffy midfielder Matthew Ruane was recovering well from his collarbone injury and could also feature for Mayo in the latter stages of the Super 8s.
Mayo captain Paddy Durcan was substituted in the three-point victory over the Tribesmen in Limerick, but Horan said it was too early to know the extent of the injury to the Castlebar Mitchel’s man.
Mayo will now face Kerry in Killarney next Sunday at 4pm in the first round of the Super 8's, with live coverage on Midwest Radio.
