Midwest Sport understands that Carnacon’s appeal against their removal from the Mayo Club Championship and League will be heard by Connacht LGFA on Thursday evening next.
A vote was taken at a Mayo Ladies County Board meeting on Tuesday night which will remove Carnacon from the championship. They have the usual right of appeal on that vote.
The club has been sanctioned under Rule 288.
12 players and 2 selectors left the Mayo Senior Panel prior to the clash with Cavan, eight of those were from the Carnacon club. The players cited welfare issues and personal reasons for withdrawing from the panel.
The decision means that Carnacon will not be able to defend their county, provincial and All-Ireland championships this year, if an appeal is not successful.
