Derrycorrib, Barnatra, Ballina, Co. Mayo - peacefully at the Aras Deirbhle Nursing Home, Belmullet on 3rd October 2021.
Predeceased by his parents William and Helena and sister Christine Sweeney.
Beloved husband of Betty and dear father of Liam (Navan, Co. Meath), Yvonne (Swords, Co. Dublin), David (Headford, Co. Galway) and Brian (Headford, Co. Galway).
He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, grandchildren Hannah, Rachel, Emma, Liam, Adam, Elaina, Chloe, Eoin, Clodagh and Ben, sisters Maureen O’Donnell (Porturlin), Ita Sweeney (Wexford), Evelyn Whelan (Ballina), and Anna Loupe (France), brother Vincent (London), brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Remains will repose at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Wednesday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock with funeral arriving at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Belmullet at 8 o’clock.
Funeral Mass on Thursday at 12 o’clock followed by burial in Glencastle new Cemetery.
No flowers by request please. Donations in lieu if desired to the “Aras Deirbhle Nursing Home”, c/o McDonnell Funeral Directors, Belmullet.

In keeping with current Government advice and H.S.E. guidelines regarding public gatherings, Joseph’s Funeral Mass and Funeral Services will be for family, relatives, close friends and neighbours with a maximum of fifty percent of the Church's capacity in attendance at Funeral Mass. For those who would like to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passes through the town and villages en route to the Church on Wednesday evening and to the cemetery on Thursday afternoon, please stand in a socially distanced manner on the streets, roadsides, outside the church and cemetery, ensuring public health and safety is being upheld to the highest standard.
