Sinn Fein has nominated Mairead Farrell to become the new chair of the Public Accounts Committee.

It comes after the resignation of Brian Stanley from the party, over a complaint made against him.

Party leader Mary Lou McDonald says Deputy Farrell is "meticulous and forensic."

She also says the Committee's function is particularly important after a "catalogue" of public spending controversies.
