The Taoiseach is visiting Ukraine for the first time today.

Simon Harris arrived in the Kyiv region this morning, after taking the overnight train from south-eastern Poland last night.

He will visit areas that were bombed by Russia's invasion, while he will meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this afternoon.

Simon Harris says he's visiting Ukraine because he wanted to see the impact of war on Europe first-hand.
