Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue’s recent announcement that in-person training events will be made available for farmers in the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) has been widely welcomed.
Following this news, calls are being made for these training events to be made easily accessible for farmers.
The National Livestock Chair of the Irish Farmers Association is heading the plea with the Agricultural Minister.
Declan Hanrahan says that suckler farmers in SCEP must have the training requirements for the scheme completed by November 15 to remain within the scheme.
He said that while the move from online training to in-person is a huge boost to a significant number of farmers, the next steps in organizing the training must be confirmed soon.
Mr. Hanrahan is calling on the Minister to announce the dates and venues for these events as soon as possible to ensure farmers have adequate time to arrange to attend these important events to remain compliant with the scheme required.
