Fine Gael's Neil Cruise was re-elected late last night to Mayo County Council.
He claimed the final seat in the Swinford election after a second recount.
The recounts were called as Sinn Féin's John Sheahan finished just one vote behind Cruise.
After the second recount the final figures had not changed and so Sheahan missed out on a second Sinn Féin seat.
Following the announcement cllr Cruise spoke to Stephen Grealis.
He said that he wants to make his town of Foxford a better place to live in, work in, raise a family in and grow old in.
