Peter Flynn was last night re-elected to Mayo County Council, representing the Westport Local Electoral Area.

He was elected on the fourth count, with Brendan Mulroy FF and Johno O’Malley IND elected on the fifth count.

The Fine Gael representative commended the work of his colleague Keira Keogh who ran an impressive and strong first time campaign in the area.

Speaking to Midwest Radio’s Election Panel last night, cllr Flynn reiterated the thoughts shared earlier by cllr Gerry Murray on social media’s impact in the run up to the election.
