Three outgoing councillors in Belmullet electoral area have all retained their seat following 5 counts at the counting centre in Castlebar.

It wasn't until count number 4 that Fianna Fail's Paul McNamara and Fine Gael's Gerry Coyle were deemed elected on 2228 and 1867 respectively.

Following the surplus distribution, Fianna Fail's Sean Carey was deemed elected on 1771 votes as there would not have been enough surplus to see either Carey or Sinn Fein's Rosaleen Dixon Lally reach the quote and Dixon Lally was eliminated on count 5 with 1498 votes as the candidate with the lowest votes.
