The death has occurred of Roscommon's oldest man Michael Coyne who has died at the age of 107.
Mr Coyne, who was from Fairymount but living in Boyle with his nephew and carer, Neil McGarry, worked on the construction of the famous Bellacorick power station during the 1950's.
While working on the project he stayed in digs with a local family in Bellacorick.
Michael was presented with a copy of ‘Powering the West’ by PJ Lynn, who was a member of the Crossmolina-based committee behind the publication of the history.
Michael will repose in Higgins and Sons Funeral Home, Ballinameen (F52 RC58) on Wednesday evening 22nd May this evening from 5 o’clock until 7.30pm, to arrive at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Fairymount at 8 o’clock.
He will be laid to rest in Fairymount Cemetery tomorrow following 12 noon mass.
