Stephen Kerr, a native of Breaffy, Castlebar, has announced he is putting his name forward as an Independent candidate for the local elections in the Castlebar Municipal District.
Mr. Kerr is an outspoken and prolific commentator on social issues, particularly immigration.
His partner, Susanne Delaney of the Irish Inquiry media website, will also be standing as an Independent candidate in the Blanchardstown/Mullhudddart area of Co. Dublin.
On the Irish Inquiry media platform, of which he is a founder, Mr. Kerr says one of the main reasons he is running is his belief that sitting councillors do not represent the views of the public as much as they should.
Stephen Kerr and Susanne Delaney have both launched GoFundMe fundraisers in order to finance their election campaigns.
