Fine Gael TD Ciarán Cannon will not contest the next election.
In a statement, he says following a career spanning 20 years, he has decided to leave politics.
He says he enjoyed politics immensely and has been privileged to work alongside some very committed and talented people.
The Galway East TD says he's confident he can continue to have an impact in another role, with renewed purpose and passion.
