Delayed commuters will get better compensation packages under a new bill being brought to the Seanad today.

The 'Improved Rail Passenger Rights' bill aims to bring Ireland in line with its European counterparts on the issue.

It will see a tiered compensation scheme established for passengers on trains that are delayed by more than 20 minutes.
