Part 8 planning has been adopted for the development of the industrial estate in Westport.
This comes following yesterday’s monthly meeting of the West Mayo Municipal District.
Local Independent Councillor Christy Hyland says that this will provide a great boost and improvement to the current facility available.
He says that there are plans for a further 12 sites as part of the extension.
Work on the development of the sites will be able to go to tender once a contractor is appointed.
This will provide funding for a new slip road which is also part of the plans.
The slip road will join the Golf Course Road and the Newport Road, via the existing industrial estate road.
He says that this will be of great benefit to traffic congestion in the area.
