One minute of silence was observed by Councillors at this afternoon’s monthly meeting of Mayo County Council.
This was performed as a mark of respect to the family of the late John Bruton.
Former Taoiseach Bruton passed away last week.
His wife Finola is a native of Westport.
Sympathy was extended by members of the council to his wife, family and his brother and fellow politician Richard.
