Uisce Éireann are currently working to restore normal water supply to a number of areas impacted by Storm Isha across Mayo.

A number of plants and pumping stations, particularly in the North West of the country, have been impacted by power outages or poor raw water quality due to flooding.

Water service staff across the country are out trying to make the repairs needed to the plants and on the water network.

Here is a statement from Uisce Éireann’s Regional Operations Manager, Anthony Skeffington:

“Uisce Éireann has implemented its emergency response processes and is working closely with National Emergency Co-ordination Committee, Local Authorities, ESB and other partners to co-ordinate the national response address any impact on water supplies due to Storm Isha. For areas where supplies that have been impacted, Uisce Éireann crews are on the ground working to restore production as soon as it is possible.

“Some Uisce Éireann water supplies across the county have been impacted by power outages arising from Storm Isha particularly in Westport, Louisburgh, Ballina, Bonniconlon, Foxford, Knockmore, Clare Island, Achill Island and Doocastle/Cloontia. Supply has returned to a number of locations around the county but a significant number of customers will continue to be affected throughout today while we work to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.”

“We would like to thank all the crews who have been working overnight and through the morning to carry out repairs throughout the network. We also want to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal supplies. The Uisce Éireann website water.ie is updated regularly with local outages.”
