Civil liberties groups are reacting with concern to reports the Government's considering fast-tracking facial recognition laws following last Thursday's riots in Dublin.

It's understood Minister Helen McEntee believes Gardaí need to be given more robust legal tools to confront public order offenders. 

 A draft law already being considered would give Gardaí new powers to use technology to identify and track the movement of suspects.
