Progress will be made to address the traffic situation in Ballinrobe from January.
That's according to local Fianna Fail Councillor Damien Ryan says a Part 8 is in place which involves a set of traffic lights at Staunton's Junction.
He says it's a six week contract and will be operational towards the end of February.
However, Cllr. Ryan says their hands were tied to go with this option as the traffic management plan and survey was conducted some years ago.
250,000 has been allocated by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Cllr. Ryan says he is part of a delegation that will meet with the department next week.
He says the overall solution is to get the Ballinrobe bypass project moving but this interim measure of traffic lights will improve traffic flow to some degree.
Cllr. Ryan has been giving more details to Mifdwest Radio's Michael D. McAndrew....
