Motorists in Ballina can avail of free car parking facilities in council car parks in the town this Christmas for the month of December.
From Friday, December 1st through to Friday December 29th, the free car parking will be available from 2pm daily in the car parks. However, on-street car parking charges will remain in place.
This was agreed at Wednesday's monthly meeting of Ballina Municipal District.
Councillor Annie May Reape congratulated all those already busy erecting Christmas lights in the town for this Christmas. It’s a joint effort by the local authority, Ballina Chamber and local volunteers.
The Fianna Fail councillor says an application has been submitted by the local authority to secure significant funding for Christmas lighting infrastructure in Ballina, and it’s hoped that funding will be secured early next year and will further enhance Christmas lighting in Ballina in 2024.
