A specially designed commemorative plaque was unveiled yesterday at the former Music School of the Sisters of Charity in Foxford.
Sr Mary Roche, a native of Foxford and a member of the Irish Sisters of Charity unveiled the plaque after 11am Mass on Sunday in St Michael's Church, Foxford.
Parish Priest Fr Padraic Costello was present to bless the proceedings.
The Music School was founded by Sr Agnes Morrogh Bernard (1842-1932), who also founded the Providence Woollen Mills in 1892, and the Convent in Foxford in1925.
Extensive research on the enterprising nun has been carried out by two local men-Pat Fox and David Howley.
