People who want to live in island communities will be able to avail of higher grants to renovate derelict homes.
The government is set to unveil a major new programme today to enhance life on the islands off the Irish coast.
It'll see 80 commitments made to boost employment, enhance healthcare and education and promote tourism.
One of the measures being announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, will be grants of 60 thousand euro to renovate vacant homes on islands, while 80 thousand euro will be available for those looking to restore derelict properties.
