A local councillor is calling for immediate intervention by eir after a manhole cover on Spencer street in castlebar has collapsed.
Councillor Ger Deere says this has become a regular occurrence around the town where such covers are collapsing or buckling and cause a serious health and safety issue.
The covers have been in place for decades old, and were installed over 30 years ago when Eir was known as P and T.
Councillor Deere says something needs to happen as a matter of urgency before someone is seriously injured.
