The pedestrian that died in a road collision in County Offaly in the early hours of yesterday morning, (Sunday), has been named locally as Roscommon native John Fleming.
Mr Fleming, who was in his 50's, resided in Brenamore, Loughglynn and formerly Currasallagh, Lisacul, Castlerea, County Roscommon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the fatal incident which also involved a car.
The collision occurred shortly before 2:00AM at Marshbrook, County Offaly, near the Westmeath border.
The occupants of the car received medical attention but were not seriously injured.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
They are also appealing to any motorists with camera footage (including dashcam), who were travelling on the R446 between Moate and Horseleap at the time of the collision, to make it available to them.
John's funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
