A local councillor has hit out against signage on the new N5 bypass that is due to be officially opened in the coming weeks.

Bonniconlon based Councillor John O'Hara says he received complaints that there are no signs for Ballina on the new road.

Councillor O'Hara says that Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) are to blame, and outlined other ways in which TII have disappointed the people of Ballina.

He says that Ballina is being put in thris place behind Westport and Castlebar, and that if a tourist is to come out of Castlebar and onto the new road, they may not be inclined to head towards Ballina with the lack of signage.

Councillor O'Hara has been stressing his concerns to Midwest Radio's Rian Bailey...
