A new law could result in ten-year jail terms for those who spike drinks.
The Irish Independent reports the Fine Gael proposal would make spiking a stand-alone offence.
The Justice Minister will bring the bill to the Seanad next week.
Simon Harris has previously stated the current maximum three-year sentence for drink spiking is too low.
