A Knock native is to be awarded a Silver Scott's medal at a ceremony in Dublin today for his act of bravery on duty.
The Scott Medal is the highest award that can be bestowed by the Commissioner of An Garda Síochána and is awarded for ‘most exceptional bravery and heroism involving the risk of life in the execution of duty’.
Detective Garda Enda Jennings was one of 4 Gardaí who responded to a call in Glenties in Donegal in 2020, when a male armed with a high velocity rifle discharged a number of shots in the town.
Detective Jennings is a native of Knock and is stationed in Milford garda station in Donegal.
He along with Sergeant Edward Griffin, Detective Garda Darren Carter, and Garda Louis Browne will all receive Silver Scott's medals today in recognition of their work.
