A League of Ireland footballer is making headlines this weekend as he is to take over his family pub in Bohola.
Dundalk FC player John Mountney will take over the iconic Village Inn Pub in Bohola.
Mountney follows in the footsteps of his mother Bernie in assuming the role of publican.
This most recent move for the local hero has brought great excitement to the village since the announcement.
Having previously played with Mervue United and St Pat’s , Mountney is currently in his second spell at Dundalk.
He is currently out of action due to injury, but there is optimism that he will return by the end of this year’s League of Ireland campaign.
A special commemoration night is planned for tonight to mark his official transition to publican.
