The result of a ballot calling for strike action by pilots at Emerald Airlines is due this afternoon.

The carrier which operates the regional franchise for Aer Lingus, began balloting members last week

The pilots, members of IALPA a branch of the Fórsa trade union, called for the ballot after Emerald's refusal to engage with the union.

The company does not recognise the trade union as the representative negotiating body for its pilots.

Emerald Airlines operates regional flights, including the Dublin to Donegal service.

It also operates UK provincial routes including Bristol, Birmingham and Edinburgh.
