The failure to renew the Multi Annual Rural Water Scheme is a big problem for group water schemes and their improvement.
That’s according to Councillor Patsy O’Brien.
The scheme ran most previously from 2019-2022, with Mayo receiving €23 million out of the €50 million national allocation.
Councillor O’Brien says this was of great benefit to Group Water Scheme development across the county, and a new scheme must be put in place as people on schemes across the county are suffering.
In addition to this, while the Irish Water charge to connect to a new house is suspended, the Ballinrobe based Councillor says it’s unfair that it’s not the case for connection to a group water scheme
