Ballaghaderreen Mens Shed today welcomed Minister for Community and Rural Development Heather Humphreys to their premises.
2,000 euro was secured by the local group from the Minister’s Department earlier this year, and the monies assist in paying everyday utility costs, along with insurance and other expenses.
The Minister spoke in glowing terms about Ballaghadarreen’s Mens Shed premises and the catchment area that access it.
She also visited Cootehall Men's Shed which is on her doorstep, and explained that she is familiar with the friendship and the closeness that men enjoy over a chat and a cup of tea.
In her address at the Phoenix Centre Ballaghaderreen, Minister Humphreys commended all the people involved in the local organisation and with Men's Health week coming up from June 12th/18th the Minster was delighted to hear that a big push is on to reach out to men to really think about their health and to take responsibility for it.
