The public is urged to attend an information evening being hosted by Cancer Care West next Monday evening (May 8th) at 7pm in the Clayton Hotel, Galway.
The purpose of the meeting is to further discuss the need for immediate action on delivering a dedicated cancer care centre at a Model 4 Hospital for UHG to serve the west and north west regions.
Professor of Surgery at University Hospital Galway (UHG), Michael Kerin, says this has been an ongoing campaign for over a year now to build a new fit for purpose cancer centre with a view to ending the inequality regarding access to care in the regions.
The proposed centre is in the national development plan and is moving along, but the pressure is now on to appoint a design team. “ Government are sitting on it, and we want action for the patients of the West and NorthWest”.
