The event starts with a series of music acts at 7pm, with the President expected to appear at 9pm.

The Chieftains and Irish rock bands, The Coronas and The Academic will perform before the President will speak to an estimated crowd of approximately 20,000 in front of St Muredach’s Cathedral tomorrow night

Traffic restrictions in Ballina will be in place until the end of the event late tomorrow evening.

President Biden’s great-great-grandfather Patrick Blewitt, who was from Ballina, crossed the Atlantic as a 20-year-old cabin boy.

Two years later, he returned to Ireland and persuaded his father, Edward, his mother and all of his seven siblings to head across the Atlantic in June 1851.

President Biden's cousin Joe Blewitt says the buzz is electric around the town.
