The sun is shining in Ballina ahead of the visit of US President Joe Biden.
Work is continuing around the clock to ensure the town is looking pristine.
The stage at the Cathedral is set where President Biden, whose great-great-grandfather Patrick Blewitt was from Ballina, is due to speak in front of St Muredach’s Cathedral tomorrow night.
The event starts with a series of music acts at 7pm, with the President expected to appear at 9pm.
The Chieftains and Irish rock bands, The Coronas and The Academic will perform before the President will speak to an estimated crowd of approximately 20,000 in front of St Muredach’s Cathedral tomorrow night
Traffic restrictions in Ballina will be in place until the end of the event late tomorrow evening.
President Biden’s great-great-grandfather Patrick Blewitt, who was from Ballina, crossed the Atlantic as a 20-year-old cabin boy.
Two years later, he returned to Ireland and persuaded his father, Edward, his mother and all of his seven siblings to head across the Atlantic in June 1851.
