Planning permission has been granted by Mayo County Council to TESCO Ireland Ltd for long awaited proposed improvement works at the Ballina store.

The authority has granted conditional planning for the refurbishment of the Ballina store.

The works will include a new entrance lobby, new glazing, cladding and screening, replacement of signs, a  landscaped court yard, upgrades to the pedestrian area, a new service yard entrance gate, provision of new customer toilets and internal layout changes.

Provision of bring banks, e-charging points and bicycle stands are also conditions of the planning approval.

Ballina based Minister of State Dara Calleary  says the works will provide an improved work environment for the team at the Ballina store and will provide an enhanced experience for customers in North Mayo.

He says he will continue to work with Tesco and Mayo County Council to ensure the works now proceed in a timely manner.
