One thousand new Gardai will be recruited this year with a three week recruitment campaign getting underway on Friday.
The Minister for Justice will tell Cabinet today that four tranches of 225 recruits will enter Templemore for training throughout the rest of the year in addition to the more than 200 trainees already at the college.
Simon Harris will update the Cabinet on a plan from the Garda Commissioner to support four intakes of 225 at 11 week intervals for the remainder of the year
