Almost 8,000 customers are without power this afternoon following a major outage in Galway.
7817 customers have been without supply since 9:40 this morning.
The outage has also impacted traffic lights in the area and as a result there is traffic congestion on the approach to Galway city.
Galway City Council is advising all road users to exercise extreme caution and be aware of pedestrians trying to cross.
They say road operation crews are on their way to affect areas.
According to ESB power check app, power is not expected to be restored until 5 o'clock this evening.
ESB networks have apologised for the loss of supply . They say they are currently working to repair the fault and will restore power as quickly as possible.
