A former Taoiseach has described a Sinn Féin advertisement in American papers as "misguided".

The advert - which appeared in a number of papers, including the Washington Post and the New York Times - calls on the Irish government to "plan, prepare and advocate for Irish unity".

It also claims Britain is breaking its obligations under the Good Friday Agreement.

Former Fine Gael Taoiseach, John Bruton, says the ad would be better placed in papers read by unionists...
