The number of uninsured vehicles in Ireland is four times the EU/EEA average.
The Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland says it's the second highest level of uninsured vehicles at 7.8 percent, only behind Greece at 8.2 percent.
Figures for last year show that 1 in 12 private vehicles here were on the road without a valid disc.
