A Mayo councillor has questioned why there is such a delay in waiting to see a consultant at Mayo University Hospital.
At the recent HSE West Forum meeting Cllr. Michael Kilcoyne asked management how many people are waiting and the response he got back was over 10,207 which he says is a frightening number.
Cllr Kilcoyne also asked how many have had a first consultation and are awaiting a procedure to be carried out.
The number is just 1,365 which the Castlebar based councillor says you could be waiting up to four years after you have seen the consultant to have your procedure carried out.
